Java Edition:Endermite Without a Player Tag - Minecraft

When endermites were first added, in 14w11a (1.8 snapshot), through 14w27b-2 (1.8 snapshot), there was a chance they would spawn when an enderman teleported. This would cause them to not have a player spawned tag. This makes them distinguishable from other endermites since they will not be attacked by endermen, unlike ones spawned by enderpearls. These were later obtainable again through several dimensions in 20w14∞ where endermites spawned naturally. An example of one of these dimensions is 'a'. The player spawned tag is removed in 20w46a making this a recontinued feature.
