Monsters are the collective group of antagonistic entities that roam the city "You" lives in. No expository information is ever given on the monsters' origins, but gathered from the setting, found notes and some lines of dialogue, they are what remain of the residents that once inhabited "You"'s town, having been mutated into these abominations for a period of months, apparently as the result of infection from an unknown disease scourging the area following what "You" calls "the outbreak".
