Product Review: Cave Tools BBQ Skewers - Staci's Sweet Treats

It’s BBQ Season!! Break out the grill, fire up the charcoal and let’s get cooking….Kabobs!! The wonderful people at Cave Tools have given me another opportunity to work with them and to share with you a great product perfect for the up coming grilling season. BBQ Kabob Skewers!!! OMG I LOVE these!! Now, some of the best things about these skewers are that they are metal NOT wooden. That means no soaking in water before hand to ensure that they don’t burn. No more worrying about broken pieces of wood ending up in your food. Since they are metal I love that they are reusable. This is a big deal for me, as I am trying to cut down on everyday waste and make the world a little better. Also, you get 10 skewers!! That in it’s self is awesome!!! I also love that these skewers are flat instead of round. This is a great feature in that they help to keep an even grilling and they do not roll around on the grill. My husband, who helped me grill us these beauties, said that was a great thing. He said that having the flat skewer made flipping much easier and the wide end at the top of the skewer also helped. Now keep in mind that these skewers are metal, so when you put them on the grill they will get hot. Please be sure to use caution and protect yourself when using them. My husband used tongs to help flip the kabobs and again, the fact that they had a flat end made using the tongs to help flip them that much easier. As you can see from the pictures above, they also come with this handy, dandy, Simple Food Remover Ring!! This little beauty helps the food slide right off the skewer! I totally loved this feature. There is noting worse than having your food stick to the skewer and then having either to pull it off and hurt your fingers or cut your food off the skewer instead. With this feature all of the food slid right off and no fingers, or food were damaged in the removal. How cool is that? Also just like the Salad Spinner from Cave Tools (you can see my review on that here) all 10 skewers are dishwasher safe for easy clean up! Anything to make life a bit easier is well worth it! Now, I did put a little bit of Olive Oil on these skewers, not only to add a bit more flavor to the food, but also to help keep the food from sticking. This is just good cooking practice in any circumstances. Okay, now on the to the good stuff. For this review, my husband and I made two different types of kabobs. We made Chicken marinated in Italian dressing and Veggies marinated in Teriyaki sauce. For the veggies, I used red, yellow and orange peppers, Button mushrooms, yellow and green zucchini, and yellow onion. I marinated the chicken and veggies for a few hours and then we made five skewers of each. My husband and I were both very impressed at how much food we were able to fit of each of the skewers. We did separate the chicken and veggies onto different skewers and the reason for that is simple. They each have a separate cooking time. My family likes their veggies a bit on the crunchy side, so they did not need to cook as long as the chicken did. By all means though make them however you want. I am a firm believer that cooking is all about you, so make them your own. Once grilled, I made some rice to go with it and BAMB you now have one awesome dinner! Not only was the food great, but my clean up was a breeze. These skewers are not a staple in my house. I know that we will be cooking with them much more as the summer gets in full swing. I plan on making some beef and shrimp kabobs very, very soon. Oh my mouth is watering just thinking about it! I highly recommend this product to anyone who loves to BBQ or anyone who loves Kabobs!! This is a product that is sure to become a family favorite. My kids loved being able to remove their own food without help AND it got them to eat some veggies!! WIN!!
